Art Institute of Califonia - Orange County
The Art Institute of Orange California Faculty Development site was developed for the new and existing staff at the Art Institute of Orange County. The purpose of the Art Institute of Orange County Faculty Development site is to inform, educate, and provide useful resources that are pertinent to the staff. With branding limited to the constraints of The Art Institute logo, my role within this project was both front and backend developer and designer.
Serving as an information source for faculty, the layout and grid structure of the site was chosen to depict the most prevalent information on the home page. The main purpose behind including this design element was to educate the faculty of their peers. Seeing as the Art Institute caters to many differing degrees, it may not always be possible to meet the new or existing staff member given their day-to-day tasks.
One of the main challenges faced when developing this website was the fact that cross compatibility throughout all browsers and platforms had to be ensured. Considering the fact that some faculty is still working with older browsers such as Internet Explorer 6 as well as differing operating systems, all bases had to be covered while still maintaining the design elements consistency.
The solution to the challenge was achieved through vigorous cross compatibility debugging. Testing on multiple platforms and differing operating systems was the remedy to the issue at hand. By targeting specific browsers through the use of CSS, the issue was remedied.
